Learn how to employ various blending techniques, with the help of an ‘oil medium’ to produce a gentle flower painting.

Paint a Masterpiece in Oils

 

Step by Step we will build a simple ‘en plein air’ style oil painting using the Impressionists as our model.  A lovely way to apply paint, you will be shown how to load the brush effectively and tap it on the canvas to create a loose and lively landscape.  No worries here, oil can be scraped back or blended out if areas need more attention!   A great way to paint in oils – come and have some fun!

Pastels for Pleasure 

Masses of colours to choose from, come and delve into the colour boxes to produce your own pastel ‘painting.’  You will be shown how to use these exciting drawing sticks and we will be using a special surface that you can re-create at home. Students are invited to bring their own colourful landscape to refer to if they wish but material will also be available from the studio.  No restrictions but lots of advice and demonstrations, come and make use of this previously unheard of opportunity to go mad with these colours. Fully tutored as always.

Drawing can be so much fun, we have put together three mediums in the same image.  A relaxing morning will be spent applying detailed stonework to a lovely bridge and cottage in pencil, strengthening some areas with penwork and adding delicate fresh washes to brighten up the foreground flowers in this romantic scene.

This two location holiday will take you to  different parts of the Dordogne, quickly settling in to enjoying the local scenes your painting or drawing equipment will be very active. Previous artist who have joined us will really love this double location painting holiday.

Full tuition with lots of tips are available, depending on your need and skill level, with plenty of demonstrations to help you maximise your painting.

This holiday is suitable for all levels of artist

We will be visiting some of the best places to paint and there will be time for the tourist bit too!

We will collect you from your airport, railway station or if you wish to drive down we will provide you with enough information to find us easily after your booking is finalised.

Own en-suite room and non painting partners  are very welcome. When sharing a room they receive generous discounts.  This also applies to rooms shared by artists. 

All our accommodation have swimming pools.

Our holidays normally fill fairly quickly and we aim to avoid disappointment so please book early. Various options available.

Tuition

 

-   Price is for tuition, hot drinks and use of the studio and studio equipment only.  Lunch can be enjoyed at the local pub ( 5 minutes walk) or you are welcome to bring a packed lunch. Where stated, all equipment usage is included and materials provided.

 

Accommodation

 

This depends on whether you wish to enjoy a quiet evening, eating at your place of residence, ( town or village based) or by the sea in Bournemouth; where you have a variety of places to see and visit. 

We are close to a variety of wonderful locations, including the New Forest,  the Purbecks, numerous coastal beauty spots and of course Wimborne, Poole and Bournemouth and which are 7-9 miles from Ferndown (depending where you go) or 20 -30 minutes  by car.  The area offers the second largest choice of hotels in the UK to meet your budget, preferences or facilities and  location (town, New Forest or by the sea). 

 

Please that check your suggested accommodation is available when booking this weekend break.

 

-           price guide from £49 pppn, although some rooms which can accommodate 2 people are from only £55 per room. (Hotel dependant)

            A list of additional restaurants and local venues is also supplied.

-           All painting locations are chosen where refreshments are available to purchase nearby.

Suggested local accommodation venues are  within a  maximum of 3 miles (10 minutes by car)  from our centre along easy routes.

All have restaurant facilities, double, twin rooms, smoking or non smoking options. Prices are per room and some prices include breakfast, so please ask when booking. Some have family rooms which accommodate additional beds and offer very good value.  Some prices are the same no matter which type of room you request.
